PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Proposal Outline: 

The Consortium will develop and validate a new generation of cost effective miniature IoT sensors and technological platform that will enable personal emotions estimation and health monitoring. The SESEM platform will be able to integrate different technologies across multiple fields including multimodal sensing, advanced processing, secure wireless communication to the back end for storage and big data analysis capability.

The SESEM platform will enable API based access to advanced sensing, processing and analysis abilities for use of SMEs or academia for future simulations and new applications.

The project will develop improved sensing modules including cost effective miniaturisation, improved manufacturing process and leading to high performance in specificity/sensitivity, reliability, time to results and manufacturability. The SESEM platform will use modular approaches enabling integration of standard and new components and interfaces. The development will improve issues like portability, wearability, biocompatibility, operation in remote and low power consumption for sensing modules.  

User needs, market oportunities and business cases will be analyzed and addressed in the proposal. Issuesrelated to security, safety, privacy, standardisation, interoperability, certification, life cycle, regulation compliance and ethics will be considered.

The project will demonstrate innovative, useful, market driven, sustainable smart system platform prototype/s that will be useful for professionals and the future end users.

Beyond state of the art advances in device technology (emotions sensing/monitoring) and related manufacturing will be demonstrated by 3 case studies in 3 different countries.

The consortium includes partners from Italy, Greece, Spain and Israel.

 


PARTNER PROFILE SOUGHT
Required skills and Expertise: 

We are looking for partners with the following relevant expertise:

1. SME/University that are developing new bio-sensors or and MEMS/NEMS sensors that can show technological breakthroughs leading to further miniaturisation, new functionalities, improved power consumption, autonomy, adaptation and reliability, and secure operation in real environments (experimentally proven concepts state).

2. End Users Hospital/Clinique/Sport organizations for requirements specification and demonstration of the advantages of Smart System for monitoring people's health and emotional state.

3. Integrator: Expert in smart systems prototype design, integration or expert in advanced production process and new packaging technologies.

4. University /research center expert in advances in bio-electronics smart systems: Enhancement of the technical capabilities of bio-electronics and connected Bio-electronics and Micro-Nano-Bio Systems through cost effective miniaturisation, manufacturing and demonstration, leading to high performance in specificity/sensitivity, reliability, time to results and manufacturability.

5. SME/Big company Integrator of components and interfaces in a new platform including materials, IT, secure communication, sensing modules and analysis software.

Experts in portability, wearability, biocompatibility, operation in remote and low resource settings.

6. Experts in User need markets and business cases for monitoring people's health and emotional state. Definition of clear commercialization outcomes route (Business Plan).

7. Experts in the issues related to bio-sensors data security, safety, privacy, standardization, interoperability, certification, life cycle, regulation compliance and ethics.

Description of work to be carried out by the partner(s) sought: 

1. Definition of the relevant State Of the Art, Detailed Requirements specification, Market research, standardization and Exploitation planning.  

2. Research and development of new concepts for the Electronic Smart System including the integration of transducers, communication, data storage, analysis of emotions and health monitoring.

3. Medical/Fitness/fashion emotions and wellbeing experts for requirements specification, validation and demonstration in specific relevant applications.

4. Design and development of new Electronic Smart System including the integration of transducers, communication, data storage, analysis, emotions and health monitoring.

5. Energy supply (for wearable electronics) experts to supply solution for efficient energy scavenging, harvesting and storage, functional performance, and durability/reliability.

6. System development, implementation, integration and functionality testing.

7. Communication, dissemination and commercialization plans of the project results.
