2017-11-09 Lithuania: European Joint Doctorate in the Field of Biomechanical Microsystems H2020-MSCA-ITN

European Joint Doctorate in the Field of Biomechanical Microsystems H2020-MSCA-ITN

Description of the project offered:
Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania, is the largest technical university in the Baltic States with over 11 thousand students, 300 Ph.D. students and academic staff of about 1000 employees. The University is particularly active in research fields of manufacturing technologies, mechatronics, measurement engineering, ultrasonic diagnostics, material science, control systems and information technology. KTU with partners carried out 24 FP7 projects, 9 EUREKA/EUROSTARS projects and participated in 27 COST actions.

Ph.D. committee of Mechanical engineering would like to join an established consortium on the Marie Sklodowska-Curie project European Joint Doctorates. So far, we have academic partners from Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine and France, non-academic partners from Sweden, United Kingdom, Lithuania, Germany and Austria and collaborate with Lithuanian University of Health Science.

We are offering Ph.D. students to work in the Mechatronics Institute of KTU and KTU Science, Technology Centre and Technological Business Incubator in a field of design, modelling and investigation of microelectromechanical systems.

The main expertise of scientists in a field of Mechanical engineering is as follows: computer-aided design and numerical modelling of MEMS sensors, actuators and micropower generators as well as vibration cutting tools; structural and process optimization based on advantageous application of effects of nonlinear mechanics, experimental vibration analysis. Members of the committee discovered how to favorably exploit non-linear dynamic properties in various vibro-impact macro and micro systems.
