Innovative and Cost-Effective Approach to Treatment and Self-Care for Complex Wounds in the Elderly European Citizens by Use Hydrogel Dressing

Description of the project offered:
Complex wounds lead to long-term disability. In particularly difficult situations, this is a premature disability (diabetic foot, trophic ulcers, dermatitis, etc.). As a consequence, significant economic losses of human and financial resources, significant costs for medical care. The duration of wound healing affects the age of a person. In elderly people, in principle, poorly poured wounds, as the regenerative functions of the body to old age weaken. The immune system no longer works as in youth, so the problem of hard healing wounds is exposed first of all to the elderly. Now UTM PE develop innovative and cost-effective approach to treatment and self-care for complex wounds in the elderly citizens by use Hydrogel dressing with net matrix ARMA-GEL+.The conducted patent search in Europe showed what ARMA-GEL+ compliance with the criteria of "novelty" , "inventive level" and “Industrial applicability”.

Description of the collaboration sought:
Wide uptake of innovative and cost-effective approach to treatment and self-care for complex wounds in the elderly European citizens by use Hydrogel dressing with net matrix ARMA-GEL+.In Ukraine, a unique medical product was developed and used a sterile hydrogel dressing "Armagel +". Sterile hydrogel dressing “Arma-Gel+” is a sterile transparent elastic fairly strong mechanically copolymer material on the basis of water solution of polymer gelling agent, polyethylene glycol, guanidine and medicine that is inserted as the result of separate process – saturation with different medication.
This hydrogel dressing has the following mechanism of action: semipermeable upper layer preventing from microorganism penetration to the wound, creates uniform moist environment in the wound; assists quick rejection of necrotic mass, stimulates granulation and epithelialization process; has wonderful biological compatibility; it can be removed from the wound easily and painlessly without any remains. Meanwhile, hydrogel dressing constantly supplies to the wound medication and medicine that assist complicated wounds faster healing. Any medicine solution can be used for dressing saturation. Besides that there is successful experience of herbal extracts and organic mineral complexes (clays) usage for dressing saturation. Now UTM PE develop innovative and cost-effective approach to treatment and self-care for complex wounds in the elderly citizens by use Hydrogel dressing with net matrix ARMA-GEL+. An innovative product and a new business model of health care can significantly save money for municipalities, insurance companies and medical institutions in Europe, while helping patients, cures complex wounds in the active population of Europe, prolonging their productive lives and facilitating the condition of people with complex wounds or bedridden patients who Are in the care of municipalities, insurance companies or relatives and friends.
Also, this model gives elderly people the opportunity to independently and inexpensively and effectively cure wounds, remain active.
