Sensors and Biosensors Fabricated with Semiconductor Technology for Application in Environment, Health and Food


Partnership request description:: 
I am specialist in the development of electrochemical sensors and integrated analytical systems, and their application in several sectors like environmental control, industrial processes monitoring and clinical and biomedical analysis.
Sensors are fabricated with semiconductor technology and microfabrication technologies. My current research activities include development of electrochemical (bio)sensors based on ISFETs (Ion selective Field effect transistors) for pH and ions detection, Si/SiO2/metal microelectrodes such as Interdigitated electrodes (IDS), for conductivity detection amperometric cells and UMEAs for molecular targets detection. 
These transducers are modified with membranes and biological materials (Immunoreagents, enzymes, etc..) to obtain biosensors for detection of glucose, pesticides, biomarkers, etc. Nanomaterials (Carbon nanotubes, metal nanoparticles, etc.) are also used to improve the electrochemical response of these sensors.
Sensors are integrated in microfluidic analytical systems (μTAS) based on polymers and silicon. These μTAS are applied to detection of parameters of environmental interest.
