Innovative Technology for the Production of Nano-Reinforced Ceramic-Metal Composites Based on Titanium for Extreme Operating Conditions

The current stage of technology and production development in the world requires the development and introduction of new classes of materials that can operate effectively in extreme conditions and also provide to positive environmental effect. 
The project aims to introduction the principally new manufacturing technology for cermet composites which include synthesis, compacting and activated sintering of titanium based powders in the field of temperature gradient and the subsequent rolling, avoiding high-energy stage of melting.
The project innovation is the creation of a new class of materials combining the titanium matrix reinforced by superhard ceramic monocrystal nanofibers.
Proposed technology allows to reach a unique physicomechanical and operation characteristics of the material which more than 4 times higher comparing existing analogs. This technology has the potential to further optimization.
Business concept is oriented on the use of the commercial potential of new class of materials and products.
Due to its unique properties this material provides to produce various wear-resistant cutting elements with effect of self-sharpening, cutting tools at the cardboard and paper, textile, tobacco and woodworking factories. 
Furthermore, this material can be used as structural and highly wear-resistant one instead of traditional steel and titanium alloys including also airspace industry etc.
Expectation for successful project is based on the researching and experimental results described in scientific publications, as well as on successful pilot products industrial testing.
The wide application of the project results will enable to upgrade some technological processes, thereby increasing EU enterprises competitiveness and create new markets with more efficient products.
The implementation of the project will reduce the consumption of natural resources, energy use and capital costs per unit of production, harmful emissions, including greenhouse gases.
