Diagnosis and Treatment for an Auto-Antibody - Induced Inflammation Enhancement in Rheumatoid Diseases

Description of the project offered:
We have discovered an auto-antibody based new biomarker. Our investigation has shown that it plays a strong pathological role in inflammatory diseases such as sepsis shock, RA and other inflammatory diseases. We found that 90% patients of sepsis shock in ICU will die if the patients are positive for the auto-antibody. Preliminary data from us show that this auto-antibody is strongly related to RA.
The ultimate goal of this project is to develop diagnostic methods to monitor the auto-antibody in RA and other rheumatoid diseases; moreover, we intend to develop therapeutic agents to neutralize the auto-antibody and to induce tolerance of the B cells that produce the auto-antibody. We will performe a corhort study to validate the correlatioship between the auto-antibody and rheumatoid arthritis.
