2016-06-08 Spain: Identity and Change in Social Processes

Identity and Change in Social Processes

Description of the project offered:
We are developing a project aimed to study and develop innovative methods to study identity in different collectives implied in different social issues: marginalisation, mental health, radicalisation, stigmatisation, etc. The main purpose is to apply and to develop new methodologies aimed to address the phenomena of identity, deriving in the identification of identity factors that contribute to the manifestation and maintenance of different problems within these social issues. The main assumption of the project is that behaviour changes (from those occured during the life span, those promoted in psychotherapy and, in some cases, movements towards violence and radicalisation) are governed chiefly by identity processes operating simultaneously at the individual and social level. Therefore, the careful study of the dynamics of identity construction processes are the main goal of the overall project.
