Mathematical Modelling of Hybrid Classical-Quantum Networks

Description of the project offered: 
The main objective of this project is to develop new protocols for controlling the networks of quantum processing units connected by quantum channels. This type of networks requires new methods allowing to fully utilize the capabilities offered by quantum information processing. Quantum internetworking protocols should be able to exploit the quantum effects, including quantum teleportation, dense coding and quantum key distribution. These effects operate on classical and quantum data and thus quantum internetworking protocols have to provide the means for operating on both types of data.

The development of quantum networks provides a plethora of new interesting problems ranging from the basic aspects of quantum information processing to the modelling and simulation techniques. In order to harness the full power of quantum information processing offered by quantum internetworks, it is essential to develop models of transferring and routing quantum information between quantum nodes. To achieve this, one should be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of quantum information processing.

We have experience in the development of specialized tools for the purpose of industrial applications (high-performance scanner, unmanned aerial vehicles, applications in medicine), as well as tolls used in scientific modelling (true random number generators, discrete events simulators, modelling of quantum). We are open for collaboration with partners interested in application of advanced mathematical tools in the various areas of science and technology. We posses a broad network of contact with Polish small and medium companies working in the various sectors of industry, including information technologies, medicine and aviation.
