Integrated System of Energy Efficiency Indicators for District Heating and Buildings


Description of the project offered: 
Indicators of energy efficiency of buildings and district heating systems are not linked together in a single system.
In this research heat sources, heat networks and connected buildings are considered as interrelated elements of a single system. Thus, the object of research is the heating region that includes a heat source, heat network and connected buildings.
The methodological basis of this research is the consideration of integrated energy balance of heating district, as well as thermal and hydraulic regularities describing the relationship between the individual elements.
Along with known indicators of energy efficiency of heat sources, heating networks and connected buildings, the integrated indicators of efficiency of use of fuel and electricity for heating district are considered (kWh/m2). It allows to establish the relationship between indicators of energy efficiency of individual elements.
Along with the energy efficiency indicators it is also considered the indicators of structure, quality and reliability of heat supply, which together form the indicators system of heating region. The indicators are the basis for the selection of energy efficiency increasing projects. The relationship between indicators of status and projects is shown in the form of diagram of improvement the technological processes (Ishikawa diagram).
The proposed approach is used in the development and improvement of municipal energy management systems and benchmarking systems in the heat supply sphere.
In the framework of proposed project implementation it is planned the following:
 to develop a methodology for the analysis of system of indicators of the state of heating region;
 to develop software that implements the above mentioned methodology;
 to create 2 - 3 pilot integrated energy management systems of heating regions;
 to create a pilot system of benchmarking on the basis of voluntary participation of 15 - 20 heat supplying organizations of cities;
The elements of the proposed approach are presented in scientific articles and tested at the existing enterprises.
The integrated energy management system of heating region was implemented and operated during three years in Korosten city, Zhytomyr oblast (Ukraine).
