Development of Effective Technologies and Equipment for Purification of Contaminated Aqueous Solutions by Interfacial Gas-liquid Plasma Discharge


Description of the project offered: 
Existing problems:
1) sewage sludge treatment facilities are bio hazardous toxic waste, not subject to removal to a landfill of household waste; 
2) the leachate of solid waste landfills is a constant source of groundwater contamination throughout the life cycle; 
3) water discharged by production facilities and contaminated by persistent organic substances before reuse should be subjected to particularly careful cleaning; 
4) treatment of liquid radioactive waste at the present time is very acute in many countries of the world;
5) cleaning groundwater complex to obtain high-quality drinking water. 
In all these cases, traditional methods of solving problems, as a rule, or not effective, or expensive and unprofitable.
Proposed project: Innovative water treatment technology solutions will enable us to provide quality and at the same time, low-cost treatment of household and industrial wastewater, including contaminated with radionuclides and heavy metals, treatment of complex groundwater to produce water of drinking quality.
The proposed plasma-chemical method without any additional reagents effectively removes from the aqueous solution of organic and inorganic substances, and destroys pathogens. 
The claimed proposal is based on: 
1. New universal method for efficient processing of aqueous solutions of a special type of gas discharges in plasma chemical reactor in accordance with the requirements of current sanitary norms and minimum energy consumption. 
2. The potential of large-scale and multipurpose usage. 
Availability: a computational and experimental-design works, designed and manufactured by specialized and complex plasma tests plasma purification of water solutions from persistent organic pollutants, heavy metals and radionuclides. 
Under the proposed project is to develop technological solutions and the creation of a universal plasma-chemical systems at a number of facilities and capacities (from units to hundreds of tons/hour) for high-quality and low-cost (with unit power up to 500 watts in 1 ton/hour) treatment of contaminated aqueous solutions.
Expected result: Cheap universal technology of treatment of polluted waters and the range of equipment for its implementation will be obtained
