Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis

Description of the project offered: 
The Croatian Institute of public health (CIPH), Department of epidemiology, has begun preparing an application for a call relating to the early diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis (HP-PJ-02-2015). The envisioned goals that the CIPH has outlined as the basis of the project proposal are as follows:

Main goal: Improving prevention and treatment of viral hepatitis in the EU, in accordance with WHO and ECDC guidelines

Specific goals:
Coordination- strengthening the EU network of experts and organizations involved in the prevention and treatment of hepatitis

Dissemination- creating a web-based interface that will ease the sharing of best-practice solution among relevant stakeholders

Evaluation- measuring project outcomes

-Improving Hepatitis B and C monitoring- development of sustainable national systems of data collection that will serve to better inform international, national, and local levels of hepatitis B/C prevention and treatment. Includes awareness campaigns, and the development of national registries of hepatitis patients for the purposes of epidemiological surveillance, treatment and outcomes research and the improvement of cross-border interoperability of new and existing registries of hepatitis patients; building upon the work of the Patient Registries Initiative Joint Action).

-Improving the accessibility of testing for at-risk populations and geographical areas- promotion of testing, early diagnosis and treatment, including educational campaigns, World Hepatitis Awareness Day, and connecting promotional activities to the European HIV testing week.

-Improving the quality of prevention programs for viral hepatitis, a continuation of activities undertaken by QHP (Joint Action-Improving Quality in HIV Prevention, Quality Action).

We are seeking international partners that could contribute in drafting the application and cooperate in project activities, pending a successful application. We invite any interested parties, most preferably national or regional public health institutions and organizations involved in viral hepatitis awareness, prevention and treatment, to contact us and inform us of their relevant expertise, and specific interest in participating in the project.
