 Embedded System for Interaction Between Car On-Board Computers Using Satellite Communication Channels to Ensure Traffic Safety on the Roads of EU

Description of the project offered: 
The described project involves the creation of an embedded device and accompanying software for the following installation both in motor trucks and passenger vehicles, including buses to transport passengers. The device receives information about the current traffic situation via satellite channels, including the ones that are extremely unfavorable and dangerous for the vehicle.
The main purpose of the device is to inform a driver about a possible accident on the road in advance, i.e., before it starts to happen, by sending the audio signal and the corresponding video message on the dashboard. If it is necessary, the device can also slow down the vehicle automatically, i.e. without the direct involvement of the driver, or even completely stop it. A more detailed description of the operating principles of the embedded system is presented below.
Project goals and objectives:

The aim of this project is to reduce the number of vehicle accidents, especially traffic fatality, on the motorways (Autobahn) and mountain roads or a narrow roadways and hairpin curves. 
This aim will be achieved by realizing the following main objective of the project:
- Development and implementation among major European automakers the embedded onboard computer device, which is capable of receiving information about the current traffic situation in front of the traveling vehicle via satellite infrastructure, which makes it possible to inform promptly driver about danger to life situations, arising out of his visibility;
The developed software and the embedded into the car controller with dashboard for visualization and sending the alarm signal will make it possible:
- to reduce the number of casualties on the EU roads;
- to eliminate the human factor to the greatest extent possible, when it is necessary to make a decision within rapidly changing current driving situation, e.g., when the cars traveling at high speed get into a car accident (the so-called “domino effect”); 
- to minimize material damage caused by road traffic accidents that occur on difficult areas (e.g. on mountain roads).

System Functioning Principles:

The described above device can be either integrated into the electronic driver alert system or may be designed as a separate special dashboard.
The device is automatically activated when the vehicle starts. Throughout the moving traffic, the device interacts and exchanges data with similar devices and / or on-board computers of other vehicles that are equipped with them. This unit collects and analyzes information about the traffic situation in front of the vehicle within the distance of at least double deceleration track
Warning operation of this unit with visual and audible signals will take place first of all in the following situations:
● If it is necessary to overcome a steep mountain turn (there will be a reduction in speed, performed by the system, especially in the situation of meeting of traffic, when two vehicles approach the same steep mountain turn);
● If heavy traffic occurs. The board unit will be primarily intended to inform the driver about the incident that has occurred upstream of the vehicle. The same information is also supplied to the devices of the vehicles, going behind, as well as to road services, police and emergency. Thus, the driver will be prevented from becoming another car accident participant.
